Sejarah Hogwarts
Hogwarts didirikan sekitar 990 sesudah Masehi oleh empat penyihir, yaitu Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, dan Salazar Slytherin. Masing-masing dari mereka merepresentasikan sebuah aspek kepribadian yang mereka ingin munculkan dari murid-murid baru. Sebagai contoh, Godric Gryffindor yang merepresentasikan keberanian. Jadi, ia ingin memunculkan keberanian itu dalam sikap murid-murid baru.
Namun tak lama setelah mendirikan sekolah tersebut, terjadi perbedaan pendapat, Slytherin hanya ingin menerima murid ber-darah Pureblood saja. Tentu saja hal ini ditolak mentah mentah dan pada akhirnya, Slytherin kemudian meninggalkan sekolah. Tapi sebelum ia pergi ia membangun Kamar Rahasia ( tanpa diketahui orang lain ) yang berisi seekor basilisk untuk memurnikan sekolah. Hanya keturunannyasaja yang bisa membuka kamar rahasia dan membebaskan basilisk ( Tom Marvolo Riddle ) .
note : Ginny Weasley hanyalah pion bagi Tom untuk membuka pintu rahasia. Ketika peristiwa itu terjadi, diketahui Tom merasukin tubuh Ginny.
