David Hoffmeister Evaluations & Experiences
In September he was a delegate of Czechoslovakia on the twenty ninth Worldwide Congress of PEN Clubs in Tokyo after which travelled round Japan (an illustrated e-book Made in Japan was printed in 1958). In 1955 he was despatched to Beijing and Shanghai as a commissioner for the cultural part of the exhibition Ten Years of Building Czechoslovakia and included his experiences in the 2nd version of Postcards from China. In his guide One Hundred Years of Czech Caricature, he was the first art historian to elaborate the historical past of this genre. He printed a monograph on the inventor of the intaglio press, Karel Klíč. He accompanied Tristan Tzara and Fernand Léger throughout their visit to Czechoslovakia. In 1953, he participated in the preparation of the exhibition of Jean Effel within the Mánes union and the publication of his guide of political drawings.

Influenced by world events, he returned to drawing earlier than the mid-1930s and started to devote himself mainly to political caricature. In Prague, he collaborated primarily with the magazine Simplicus (later Simpl, 1934–1935) and after being forced to to migrate to the USA, he drew for Compatriot and American newspapers. In American exile, where he created his greatest cartoons (Tehran Conference, 1943, the series Anti-Axis Algebra, 1943), he had a solo exhibition with Antonín Pelc at the Museum of Modern Artwork in Ny City at the end of the warfare. In the early 1930s, influenced by Surrealism, Hoffmeister briefly returned to portray (A Fever Dream, 1931–1932) and participated within the necessary 1932 Poetry exhibition on the Mánes, where the Paris Surrealist group was additionally represented. However, he did not become a member of the Prague Surrealist group (founded in 1934). Hoffmeister continued to uncompromisingly defend freedom and the principles of contemporary artwork even within the pre-war left-wing setting, and in 1937 he took part within the Exhibition of the Czechoslovak Avant-Garde in Burian's Theatre D 37.

Still, nothing got here of it till January 2016, when a filming start in Could was announced, with Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Paul Bettany, Natalie Dormer and Martin Freeman solid.
