Lantern of ???????

Appearance

This lantern is fashioned from the bleached and rune-etched bones of Srovadna, a once-renowned lich who sought eternity but vanished before achieving true lichdom. The frame is made from fused finger bones and fragments of rib, bound together with blackened necromantic iron. A green-black witchflame burns within—yet no fuel can be found.

The lantern is unnaturally cold. Frost forms on nearby surfaces, and shadows stretch subtly toward it, as though listening.

Engraved faintly along the base is the maker’s mark of Nial Asinati, a master craftsman of forbidden artifacts. Nial himself swore that this lantern was never meant to house what dwells inside it. For even he dosen't know what it is.



Lore

Nial Asinati crafted the lantern using Srovadna’s remains to contain residual necromantic energy, not to empower it. Yet something went wrong.

Within the lantern resides an anomaly—a presence neither undead nor alive. It does not identify itself as Srovadna, nor does it deny being him. Even Nial does not understand how it came to be, only that it was not there when the lantern was sealed.

Some scholars claim it is a fragment of a failed phylactery. Others whisper that it is a thought given form—a final, terrified moment trapped forever.
