Notes - notes.io

Books aren't just stories; they are completely different worlds. You can get lost in them, exit the real world, and into a fantasy; whether it be suspenseful, action-packed, funny, romantic, etc., they take our minds off of our responsibilities. We feel the need to continue on this journey of words, whether they make up a book with 10 pages, or 100 pages, or even 1,000 pages - we crave to continue and finish the adventure with our favorite characters. We feel sad once the book is over, and wait anxiously for the next one to come out. But, in the back of our minds, there is a small voice that continues to plague a part of our minds, saying "There won't always be another book. What if this was the last one?" And we know that, when the time comes, that voice will end up being true. There won't always be another book. When you start to read the last book in an amazing series, your mind is overcome with thoughts. "I want to finish this book, but I know that once I do, there will never be another one." And we tell ourselves that we can always reread it, but we also know that it will never be the same as the very first time. We know everything that will happen. We don't have the suspense, we don't question ourselves about what we think will happen after someone does something, or after a cliffhanger, we aren't pondering the endless possibilities of what could happen next. And at that moment, some of us do almost anything to keep the story going, whether it's done by picturing scenarios in your head, to reading stories on the internet about it, to even rereading the books endless amounts of times. We become desperate for the story to continue on. But eventually, maybe after a couple months or so, to even several years, most of us will move on, happening by us either reading another series and repeating the process, or by just getting on with our lives, there will always be a space in our hearts for that story, that journey, that adventure, and we will never be able to fully let go of the fun times we had while getting lost in a separate world, one where our favorite characters will live on forever, and if you open that book cover, or click on that reading app, and read the first couple of pages again, your mind will be flooded with those memories. Books definitely aren't just stories; they're parts of our lives that we'll never forget.
