Implicit Demand for Proof: This is one of their songs that has one true meaning, of course you can find different ones but there is one that will stick out and is most likely correct and what most people vision when they think of this song. Anyway I think this song is about Tyler of course doubting god but he is trying to taunt god into proving he is true. In the first verse he is basically trying to taunt god into proving he is real, he knows he is real but wants proof, maybe to show himself and to show others but that is not what God wants. Tyler is saying "okay I know your true but if you could give me a sign..." Which is what I do sometimes which is bad but you don't think in the moment and I've stopped before then but that is what tyler is pointing out in this song, being direct with it. Reign (the real lyrics are reign not rain) down and destroy me is very powerful. He is saying come down (focusing on 'down') and destroy him meaning prove the half of him doubting wrong, be ruler of me but let me see you. Destroy also could mean because him having proof can destroy him because only he will know but he wants everyone to know but he only will, but at the same time he really does want to know, he is conflicted because he knows it won't happen but if it did it would tear him inside out. "Why would you let people use your name" why would God allow people to tarnish his name, do horrible things in His name and use and abuse religion while He just sits back and does nothing about it. It is “implicit” because he doesn’t feel he can directly ask, because God can’t directly answer. He is simply impliciting (understanding though not clearly or directly said) demanding for Proof of God. "I mean no disrespect, I am simply very perplexed by your ways" he isn’t trying to disrespect God by questioning his ways, he just wants to know why God does things the way he does.
