Mereka keluar pada malam hari untuk mencari makan, makanan wombat adalah dedaunan,kulit pohon dan jamur
Jumlah keturunan wombat biasanya hanya 1, dan menghaviskan 6 bulan didalam kantung induknya
Berat wombat sekitar 30-100pound (15-54kg) tapi yg jantan berbobot lebih berat
Jangka hidup wombat 5-15tahun di alam liar, tapi 26 tahun dipenangkaran
Populasi wombat menurun karna dimakan dingo (anjing hutan) dan tertabrak mobil, mereka juga bersaing dengan kelinci yg memasuki australia sejak 1800an
Wombat hidup berbulu dari bagian utara merupakan kerabat dari wombat australia yg sudah terancam punah.
Para ilmuan juga telah berhasil menemukan fosil fosil nenek moyang wombat yang ukurannya sama dengan kudanil. Namun mereka sudah punah 50.000 tahun yg lalu.
