Coombe is a great place to spend the day or even just the afternoon. Domaine Chandon’s traditions come from Champagne house Moët & Chandon, but its expertise is planted in the Yarra Valley wine region. They are the only Australian sparkling specialists with genuine French heritage and are well recognised in the industry. Mount Macedon Winery's mountainside property is the ideal location for an iconic Australian wedding. Boasting panoramic views, beautiful ceremony gardens and versatile indoor and outdoor reception spaces, we can help you create your dream wedding day.Book a visit and tell us exactly what your perfect day looks like. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey at De Bortoli and I am proud of the wines we have made over my time of working with their vineyards.
At the often-unexplored Western Port side of the Mornington Peninsula, you’ll find Pt Leo Estate, a 330-acre winery creating the most remarkable wines such as aromatic Pinot Gris, elegant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their menu showcases the best produce the Yarra Valley has to offer, highlighting small, local growers. Dogs on a cellar liquor store leash are also welcome to visit the main gardens but not the terrace or indoors. On a rise above the Maribyrnong River Valley in the Melbourne suburb of Keilor, you’ll find Arundel Farm Estate, a beautiful huge bluestone manor, built in 1868, surrounded by acres of private vineyards. There are a number of wineries in and around Melbourne that are perfect for families with kids.
The rustic store has sourced local wines from Elgee Park and Baillieu Vineyard, as well as a selected range of friends’ and neighbours’ wines, to sample and enjoy at the cellar door. Not only that, but there’s also a great provedore and lifestyle store – perfect for picking up some treats to take home – and a bistro doing some of the best breakfasts on the peninsula. Just over an hour from Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula is one of the hottest destinations in the country for a road trip incorporating vineyard visits.
Books can be purchased, board games are available, and bites include mushroom pâté and feta with lavosh. Wednesday to Friday, teeny Cathedral Coffee morphs into a convivial late-opener. So swap your latte for standout food and wine, and pull up a chair under Cathedral Arcade’s Art Deco ceiling. Bar snacks are inventive, featuring top locally grown seasonal veggies.
Chuck back an oyster and cosy up to the marble bar, where the keen staff will keep your whistle whetted with some of its very best. Ben Luzz, managing director of the cocktail bar Gin Palace, opened up Bijou Bottle Store relatively recently in the heart of the CBD. Here, guests can expect to find a boutique bottle store amidst a teeny bar loaded with cocktails, locally and internationally sourced spirits and wines, and exceptional bar eats (don't sleep on the terrine). For some of the finest bar snacks in Geelong and one of the most impressive wine lists in Victoria, look no further than Archive Wine Bar.
The grand architecture of the winery, restaurant and cellar door is worth the visit alone, with its massive curved roof and endless floor-to-ceiling windows for those vineyard views. Settle in with a matched selection of caviar, oysters and the estate’s sparkling rosé. Tasting wine at the vineyard where it was grown – ideally in a beautiful cellar door, accompanied by a well-matched meal – is an experience that’s hard to top, and definitely worthy of a weekend trip.
These days, Cloudwine Cellars is run out of a bricks-and-mortar store. Unlike the former anonymous warehouse, the space is stuffed with character. While you won’t find any Penfolds on the densely packed shelves, there’s more than enough by way of compensation. Plazzer generally finds winemakers early in their lifecycle, stocking small producers who might have found their way onto restaurant wine-lists but not into retail stores. Book a standard or premium wine experience, which is a hosted tasting of six wines, or one that matches wines with handcrafted chocolates or selected bites from the Italian restaurant.
Luckily, their event menu consists of those items along with other goodies—and a 3-hour beverage package. Or, if you’re hoping to take advantage of the sun you can book out the enclosed courtyard that is filled with both greenery and natural light. They’ve also got some masterfully created cocktails, so be sure to try their signature ‘Cavendish House Martini’ with gin, vermouth, citrus bitters and olives. Its real yesteryear glamour makes it an ideal private dining room in Melbourne. Climb up the iconic Curtin House stairwell and make your way to level two, aka The Toff.
Despite having no hospo experience, they turned it into Central Park Cellars. In the spirit of reconciliation we acknowledge the Boon Wurrung / Bunnurong people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, grow grapes and make wine. We recognise their continued connection to land, waters and community, and pay our respects to their elders, past and present, and extend our respect to all Aboriginal peoples today.
We pride ourselves on offering an authentic winery experience and we're on Melbourne's doorstep - just 45 minutes from the CBD. Our past clients have been very happy with the quality of our work and recommend our services to their fellow wine lovers regularly. We have always valued client satisfaction above everything else and are committed to delivering high-quality services. Our cellars are designed to withstand the test of time and provide a reliable performance. From quirky and historic wineries in the Grampians, to Goulburn Valley stalwarts to newer entrants that lay on Melbourne’s doorstep; Victoria is peppered with wineries to try.
Another one of the oldest wineries near Grampians National Park, Best’s Great Western still retains an original nursery block and its original hand-dug cellars. The Seppelt Winery also hosts underground dining, and even weddings! You can find the cellar door around a 15 minute drive north of Ararat, and 30 minutes away from Halls Gap. The tour explores 3 kilometres of underground tunnels that were excavated to store wine in 1865, and are still the largest underground cellaring system in the whole of Australia. The attached microbrewery and cider house means it’s one of the top Grampians things to do for groups – even those that don’t enjoy wine. In this guide, we look at the very best Grampians wineries, as well as one bonus tip if you are short on time when you visit here.
Including seven acres of historic, landscaped gardens and a world class hospitality experience, Coombe Yarra Valley is the ideal venue for weddings and functions. Though perhaps my favourite thing was being able to get into all the pools from the moment they open at 5 am. We followed the staff suggestion to head up to the iconic Hilltop Pool with sweeping views over the entire hot springs and beyond.
