Pardus projesi ile birlikte Pardus işletim sistemi için geliştirilen özgün araçlar/yazılımlar mevcuttur. Geliştirilen bu araçlar/yazılımlar diğer açık kaynak kodlu yazılımlardan farklı sayılmaz. Dolayısı ile daha önce herhangi bir GNU/Linux dağıtımı kullanmış olan bir kişi rahat bir şekilde Pardus üzerinde de istediği işlemleri yapabilmektedir. Windows kullanıcıları ilk defa Pardus ile tanıştıkları zaman biraz zorlanabilmektedirler. Elbette ki bunun temel nedeni Windows ortamında kazanılmış alışkanlıkların Pardus işletim sisteminde aranmasıdır. Her ne kadar temel konularda tüm işletim sistemleri benzer özelliklere sahip olsalar da her işletim sisteminin kendine özgü mantığı ve bu mantık etrafında oluşturulmuş kuralları vardır. Linux tabanlı bir dağıtımı rahat bir şekilde kullanmak için bu işletim sisteminin püf noktalarını bilmek son derece önemlidir. Bu temel özellikleri öğrenen bir kullanıcı diğer birçok özelliği sezgisel olarak öğrenebilmektedir.Pardus kendi isteklerimiz dışında hemen hemen her şeyi değiştirebildiğimiz işletim sistemidir.
