1. Pembagian tipe mantra menjadi 6
- Charm : mantra yang menimbulkan efek mengubah wujud benda
Exs : alohomora
- Conjuration/ Conjuring Spell : menciptakan benda atau binatang dari udara kosong
Exs : Avis
- Curse / kutukan : jenis mantra yang dilarang atau tidak termaaapkan karena dapat menimbulkan kematian
Exs : Avada Kedavra
- Jinx : menimbulkan sedikit ketidaknyamanan bagi korban. Jinx merupakan bagian dari sihir pertahanan
Exs : Backfiring Jinx
- Hex : menimbulkan rasa sakit dan ketidaknyaman bagi korban dan dianggap sedikit hitam. Lebih gelap daripada jinx tapi tidak segelap curse.

2. Perbedaan tipe hex dengan mantra cursed adalah mantra cursed lebih hitam dari mantra hex, mantra cursed bisa menyebabkan kematian sedangkan mantra hex hanya menimbulkan rasa sakit dan ketidaknyamanan pada korban
3. Mantra Avifors : mantra dalam transfigurasi yang digunakan untuk mengubah suatu objek (patung kecil) menjadi seekor burung atau sekawanan burung.
