Anggrek Kantung termasuk dalam kerajaan Plantae, DivisiMagnoliophyta, Kelas Liliopsida, Ordo Asparagales, Famili Orchidaceae, dan GenusPaphiopedilum.Bernama latin Paphiopedilum Kolopakingii Fowlie, dan hanya tumbuh di daerah lembap.
Meski termasuk dalam jenis Anggrek dan memiliki kesamaan dengan Paphiopedilum Topperi Braem & Mohr, namun bentuknya yang unik menjadikannya sangat berbeda dari tumbuhan satu Familinya
Anggrek Kantung Kolopaking mempunyai daun hijau tua dengan bentuk seperti pita membulat pada ujungnya.
Panjangnya dapat mencapai sekitar 20 sampai 80 cm dengan lebar 5 sampai 12 cm.
Dalam satu tandan, terdapat lima sampai 19 kuntum dengan paduan warna kuning dan hijau.
Bunganya memiliki kelopak berwarna putih berpadu garis-garis coklat merah dan coklat tua pada bagian urat,Ukuran bunga mencapai delapan hingga 16 cm.
