The following is an account of the a few things and instances that have made the person I am today. My childhood was extremely defining for me and my father had a huge role to play in it. He is a person of strong principles and believes in a simultaneous improvement of mind, body and soul. He taught me the importance of being honest and humble. He ensured that I and my brother get into the habit of involving physical exercise in our daily activities. We played sports like cricket, football, badminton, table tennis and many others. We became so good at all these sports, that we could easily compete with kids in school and participate in tournaments. This instilled in me a sports psychology, the one that strives for excellence, and fostered a competitive spirit. Apart from that, my father believed that I could do anything that boys could. I could climb trees, ride motorbikes and jump from walls without considering gender as a limiting factor.
During my childhood I have seen some tough situations at home. I was an observant kid so when something was wrong, I always knew. And in those situations it was my responsibility to pacify before things got worse. These situations made me a stronger person and as a child they made me realise that the kind of problems that kids my age fuss about aren’t critical.
Also, when I was 4 years old, my elder brother developed an ear condition which eventually led him to becoming completely deaf. Since we were playmates and confidantes, it was my responsibility to make sure he doesn’t experience social isolation, which is very normal for people with the same condition as his. Being in his company during most of my childhood has taught me to become more observant, patient and persistent, skills that have had an immense impact on me.
