Why be single?

Logically speaking, we never want to be alone, no matter how much freedom you desire, you end up feeling an empty space, others may try to fill it with drugs and alcohol, others may use friends and little activities, and others take it upon themselves to find the "one."

Each leads to a different life choice. Drugs lead to an addiction that only gives a temporary pass from that feeling. It's said that the reason for addiction is to attempt to recreate the first feeling of when you did it, but what feeling is it? Getting high? Getting drunk? Either way, you end up not being in your right mind- the world is seen from a different point of view but you also aren't thinking about anything but is it just all to escape that lonely feeling everyone carries?

Don't get me wrong, the lucky ones do find their match made in heaven but how is that determined? You may last for years and then suddenly it hits... "I'm not happy" nut why does it hit then? Why not before? Why don't realize earlier? Is it just our minds cloudy by happiness and that we finally found that one person that is suppose to make us happy and we, them? Why is it a burden on us to find someone? Why are we all cursed with the fear of being alone? We seek companionship in family, friends, even animals just to try to numb that feeling but humans are never truly happy because there's still that thought- "What if I can't be loved?" "When will I be happy?" "Why can't I find a great guy?" "When will I find the one?"

Believe it or not but we all think about it, no matter how much you numb yourself from the reality of it, you think about it. "When will I meet them?" or "Have I met them yet?" But why? Why is that our main concern, society have created phrases to try and convince that once you like a person, even the negative sides of the relationship are okay.

"... opposites attract" "you guys are like the same person"

Compatibility. That's the main search, to find the one that you're compatible with but even with that, are they ever really the one? I mean, you have couples that die with their one true love, but how do you find them? Everyone's story is different but yet the same to the point where it becomes a cliche, But when you look at the question now, none of us really chooses to be single, its just made that way, but my question is now, how do you know the 'one'?
