1. the [ќЊ] : гийгVVлэгчээр эхэлсэн Vгийн өмнө : the book, the boy, the lady, the university, the union
2. the [ќi] : эгшгээр эхэлсэн нэрийн өмнө : the American, the animal; мөн Vл дуудагдах h-ээр эхэлсэн Vгийн өмнө :hour, honour, honest; эхний Vе нь өргөлтгVй Vгийн h-ийн өмнө: the horizon тус тус хэрэглэгдэнэ.
I . Тухайлах ялгац гишVVн хэрэглэх тохиолдлууд
• ЗVг чиг заасан : towards the North, in the North, гэвч: from north to south, from east to west гэх мэт тохиолдолд хэрэглэхгVй.
• Газар орон болон арлын нэр олон тоонд : the East-Indies, the Netherlands, the Hebrides.
• Гол мөрөн, нуур, далай, тэнгис, уулс олон тоонд : the Thames, the Atlantic, the Alps
• Орчлонд ганц юмны нэрийн өмнө : the moon - сар, the earth - дэлхий, the sun - нар.

Сануулга : all, both, half, double, quite, twice - ын ард нь "the" байна. all the world, double the sum, all the money.

• Оноосон нэр (мөн poor, old, little, good, saint -тай) бол: poor Peter, little John
• Цол хэргэм ураг төрлийн нэр бол : Аdmiral Nelson, King Richard, Queen Elizabeth, Uncle Sam, Dr.Miller
гэвч : the Queen of England гэх Vед хэрэглэнэ.
Санамж : Англи цол хэргэм биш бол the авна : emperor, czar, archduke, elector : the Emperor William, the Czar Peter I
• Улс болон хотуудын нэр бол: Switzerland, Turkey, London,
гэвч : the London of today - гэх Vед хэрэглэгдэнэ.
• Mount- , cape- , lake- , harbour- , bay- тай оноосон нэр байвал : Mount Everest, Cape Trafalgar, Lake Geneva, New York Harbour, Hudson Bay,
гэвч : the Cape of Good Hope гэх Vед хэрэглэгддэг.
• Гудамж, талбай, гVVр, барилга оноосон нэртэй бол : Oxford street, Trafalgar square, Windsor castle, London bridge.
• Тоолж Vл болох ерөнхий нэрийн өмнө : life, death, love, Earth, Heaven, Hell ; He was weary of life.
гэвч : the life of the whole nation гэх Vед ялгац гишVVн авна.
• Нэр Vгийн өмнө тооны нэр, төлөөний Vг орвол : two boys, his friend, this room, some apples.
• Church, school, college, prison, bisiness, chapel, hospital, market, sea, table, town, work, bed гэх мэт Vгс нь ерөнхий утгаар хэрэглэгдвэл : church is over, school begins, he was sent to prison, go to bed.
гэвч : тодорхой утгатай бол ялгац гишVVн хэрэглэгдэнэ : The school is near the church. - Сургууль сVмийн хажууд байдаг.
• Материалын нэр : coal, iron , wood, gold : coal is important for export,
гэвч : the coal of Wales (Уэльсийн нVVрс) гэх мэтээр хэрэглэх нь бас бий.
• Нэр олон тоонд байвал : cats, mice, dogs, birds : swallows are pretty birds.
гэвч : the swallows of this summer - энэ зуны хараацайнууд гэхчилэн ялгац гишVVн хэрэглэх тохиолдлууд байна.
• Улирал, сар, өдөр : summer, March, Sunday : on Monday, in Winter, in April, at Christmas
гэвч : the last Sunday in August. гэх Vед хэрэглэнэ.
• Шинжлэх ухааны тусгай салбарын нэрийн өмнө :
My brother studies algebra. - Ах маань алгебр судалдаг.
Photography is my hobby. - Фото зураг бол миний хобби.
Сануулга : "of"- ын тусламжтайгаар холбогдсон буюу тVVнтэй адил бVх тохиолдолд ялгац гишVVн авна.
