2. His new royal name was Harold 2nd he made a English army and prepared for any ambushes from Harald Hardrada or William of Normandy, of course Harald Hardrada striked first in Yorkshire with many ships floating behind him. Harald Hardrada was killed on Stamfird bridge, which is now called The Battle of Stamford Bridge.
3. However whilst Harold 2nd was battling against Harald, William of Normandy attacked on Sussex. Harold the 2nd rushed to the South of England to defeat William.
4. At first William was struggling with the battle as Harolds army had made a huge wall of defence with shields, Williams army could not break threw the shields.
5. Seeing as they where fighting on a hill Williams army started heading back down the hill back to where they started but the English thought that they where retreating so they broke there line of defence and started to charge at Williams army however as soon as they did so his army turned round and the battle was begining, the English were losing by alot of men.
6. Next William ordered his calvary to start charging down the hill most of the English army now were getting trampled on, some of Williams army died but William didnt stop then.
7. William then ordered his archers to start shooting. Harold was now completley defenceless and sadly got shot in the eye on the 14th of October and died. William was victorious. The battle took six hours in total and everyone was exhausted by the end of it. Where they fought then is now called the Battle of Hastings.
8. On Christmas day William of Normandy was claimed king of England however it took a lot more fighting to conqueor the whole of England.
