An unarmed black man was shot and killed last Friday afternoon in Tulsa, Oklahoma .
40 - year old Terrance Crutcher had pulled over to the side of highway after his SUV had broken down. Police were responding to a call of an abandoned vehicle in the roadway. Officer Betty Shelby was en route when she saw Terrence's SUV. She wasn’t responding to the 911 call but pulled over on her way to a report of domestic violence. Betty pulled over and asked Terrance if the car belonged to him but received no response. He then exited his car with his hands in his pockets and proceeded to walk towards her . She ordered him to remove his hands from his pockets and he did . Terrance continued to ignore her questions and eventually walked to the back of her vehicle and put his hands in his pants. She drew her gun because he was not listening to her orders and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She ordered him to get on his knees but he decided to walk towards his car. Above in a helicopter , police officers were heard narrating the events and at one point said, “ he looks like a bad guy” . Moments later Terrance fell towards the ground after he was shot . Officer Betty believed he was reaching for a weapon in his car which is why she shot him . Shelby is now on paid administrative leave pending a criminal investigation.
