Imagine that a heart is a land. A place where you can plant many kinds of seeds such as love, happiness, hatred, anger, sadness, etc. Even if it planted at the same time, one or some of those seeds will grow dominantly, depends on how the nature and the way we maintenance it. People plant it with an excitement and hopes in the beginning that the good ones will grow well. But in process (maintenance), it works differently in two ways, just like what we've expected or opposite from what we've expected.

Once you start to plant, it needs a lot of efforts to make the good one grows. Motivation, consistency, patient and faith are needed, and in the end it'll works just like what we've expected. But everyone aren't the same. Some are expect too much and when it doesn't work as what they want in process, instead of finding other way to maintenance it, they choose to pretend that it works or they choose to give up and leave, in this case it's hard to see the good one grows, because the other one (hatred, anger, sadness) will grow dominantly and faster.

You can't control everyone to follow your rules. Even though they plant some seeds on your land, doesn't mean they can't leave anytime they want. They might leave you with those seeds that aren't expected to grow, but you could stop the growth of those by keeping the good ones alive. In the end you'll see the person who choose to stay at your land and be there with you to see the good one (love, happiness) grow stronger. Probably not too soon, but one day definitely it will.
