King George III created the Stamp Act in 1765, wich taxed most paper ítems to help pay for the French and Indian War fought in America.
The colonists thought it was unfair for Britain taz'x them since they had no members in pairlament.
NO TAXIATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION: No new taxes until they have someone in parlament.
Perspectives
Bristish Parliament and Local Governments were equal. The war was to protect America, they
should pay for it.
Without someone, no taxes. Britain is supreme leader and does not
need permission.
Rbellion.
In 1770, protestors in Boaton threw rocks and snowballs at soldiers who opened fire in confusión. 5 protesters died an event called The Boston Masacre. In 1773 the Boston Tea Party ocurred where colonists threw British tea into the wáter to protest tea tax. This causes tensions to grow.
Continental Congress
Representatives from all13 colonies met to discuss solutions, including George Washington.
In 1775, tensión led to shots being fired and a battle in Massachusetts. The continental congress created an army and wrote the declaration of Independence by 1776.
