I'm a person. I should start by saying this because what follows will make some people believe that I'm not, and that's fucked up. I'm a person. remember that and the next time you tell someone like me that they are sins and belong in hell remember that they are people too. The next time you look at someone and see them as prey remember that they are people too. the next time you think the problem is the target not the guy with the gun capable of killing 50 people think. people. Because they were people too. and they didn't shed blood for us all to sit around pray ,sing songs and read this god awful piece of poetry but they did so you can wake up and see the problem. the problem is not the people its that fact that you don't see them as people but they are. They. Are. people and here's a plot twist. Just because you are a heterosexual bastard doesn't make you any more of a person than and if anything it makes you worse because you think equality is just about you but it's not. The definition of equality taken straight out of the dictionary is “the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities” but I don't feel equal. And sure I may be white and privileged and that makes they guy in the superstore think of me as an equal but one day when it in there and I kiss my girlfriend on the lips, or we go in to buy baby diapers, or when our son gets bullied for having two moms, will I be equal then? The answer is no, and to some it will always be no because for some fucked up reason my sexual preference has interfered with your perfect little life and the fact that I may go to hell has ruined your ride up to heaven and the pure hatred for me and people like me has stemmed from a belief but the belief that I should be treated as equal is not as valid. And some will say that people like me are equal and because we can now legally get married but are we really equal if they had to legalize marriage for us in the first place. Because you didn't agree, it meant that until 2014 people who lived in America were not allowed to get married because of who they were getting married to but not even who, the gender of who. I Haven't even come out yet, not to myself or to anyone else and I already know I'm in for a lifetime of being less than.I will always be thought of as less than someone else and I will never be thought of more than or of similar value. And people say that we are equal and others will say that we aren’t people at all. But I'm a person and I still don't feel equal, and that's because I'm gay.
