The religious Cosmological argument

This argument is actually a really cool argument. It is an argument based on the fact that nothing can happen without something causing it to happen, so the earth can’t have just existed without something creating it. The religious people say that it was God who created earth and the universe. The scientists say though, that it was a big bang that created our universe, and then the religious people will argue that how could the big bang have happened if nothing was there to cause it? Then the scientists will argue invalidate the counter argument from the religious people saying that time never existed before the big bang, so nothing needed to cause it, and then will counter argue that what created God? Then the religious people will argue that God is Omnipotent and the laws of the universe and physics don’t apply to him and he didn’t need to be created and was always there.

Japanese armour report

The japanese used three types of amour. Plate, scale, and (chain) mail. All three had its advantages and disadvantages. The early types of armour were almost all scale. They were made of square pieces of iron threaded together by either silk or leather. They allowed the fighter to have some of chain amour’s mobility, while maintaining plate amour’s resistance against pointed attacks, eg: sword thrusts, spears, arrows, naginata etc. In the 10th century, chain was invented, and was used. Chainmail granted lots of mobility, and is VERY resistant to cuts. It is not completely useless against arrows, but much less weaker. Spears and well placed thrusts from swords are also effective against chain, though the sword needs to be very sharp and there are different types of mail. If it was riveted mail, then sword thrusts wouldn’t be that much of an issue. Its main weakness was its uselessness at shock absorbance. Mail may be much harder to cut through, but if say your opponent has anything not sharp, say a bo staff, their blows will bruise and batter you. Even worse, if your opponent had a mace or a heavy weapon, like a manriki-gusari (a chain with two weighed steel ends) you are very dead. Later on, plate armor and firearms would be introduced by the europeans. Plate armour offered strong resistance to spears and arrows, and decent shock absorbance. The main disadvantage was the mobility given up. Plate was heavier, and unless in pieces, like scale, you couldn’t move anywhere near a person in mail could, and if you ate too much, you would be too big for your armour.

Report of medieval japan

1854 A.D Commodore Perry gets permission from the Shogun to visit and travel through Japan. He writes a report to President Pierce outlining Japanese society, beliefs and impressive castles.

1856, August 20
Arrived in Japan, Kyoto today. Finally got off that giant floating tin can. Actually the ride wasn’t that bad, but it grates on you after two months. I was invited to stay at the shogun's castle, so I headed there and caught sight of the curious houses that the japanese lived in. They live in houses where that the outer wall is basicly oiled paper on a wooden frame, which lets light in, but gives privacy. Indigenous, yes, but not so good if a thief wants to get in. When I got to the castle I was assigned a comfortable suite of rooms, which consisted of a garden, a bathroom, and living room. It looks like the japanese aren’t very fond of furniture and prefer more living space instead. All there was was a low wooden table, and to one side, a large cupboard. In the cupboard I found a large mattress which I supposed we sleep on. The shogun’s castle is actually very large, and nothing like the old stone castles of the englishmen. Firstly it had none of the high soaring stone turrets and battlements, it was constructed of just layers upon layers of, just rooms. I thought that it was rather vulnerable to cannon shot, once the enemy got through the walls they could just keep bombarding the keep.

1856, August 23
I looked at their political things such as society and how they run their country. They apparently have a list, and the most important and respected people were at the top, and the dirt was at the bottom. At the very top, was the emperor as expected, and after him was the shogun, the grand general. After that were the daimyo, basically feudal lords that commanded a number of troops and some land. They would all swear fealty to the shogun. They all had castles built and maintained for them, and in times of war, they were the generals.
Then after them, the list goes directly to the soldiers, the samurai. They were extremely well trained soldiers, as they started training at the age of 10. They practiced swordsmanship, battle tactics, weaponry, and pretty much just how to kill people. They learned to sharpen their sword so well, that it could cut paper. They also had to follow this system of honor, much like the code of chivalry, called bushido. It was exceedingly strict, and if the samurai broke it, they would be banished or exiled or just dishonored and lose their respect from everyone around them. In severe cases they would be forced to commit seppuku, ritualized suicide. Below them, were surprisingly the pheasants. The poor farmers that almost every country seems to have. They were the one that supplied most of the food that everyone ate, and the noble class, (everyone above the peasants) depended on them for food. To prevent rebellion, no one who wasn’t of the noble class was to carry arms or learn anything about weapons. Below the pheasants were the artisans. They were craftsmen, who made everything, chairs, eating utensils, tables, they produced wood, iron, copper, the swords, armour and sandals and clothes that the samurai needed, silk, spices, pretty much everything, so they were rather important as well. At the very bottom, were the merchants. They were the most disrespected as they didn’t make anything, and only made money off the artisans and farmers.

Is globalisation good or bad?
FOR
Globalisation lets poorer countries workers get jobs to support themselves.
It lets poorer countries to exploit the natural resources that they didn’t have the money to exploit
It breaks down tensions and resolves conflicts between countries
AGAINST
Globalisation is bad because the richer companies exploit the poorer countries workers, and the workers get so much less money for the same amount of work than the workers in the richer countries.
The workers in other countries lose their jobs because the factories they work in move to countries where the worker’s wages are lower.
The factories usually move to LDCs (least developed countries) and LDCs don't have strong laws to protect the environment.

Wolf brother assessment

Existing scene, if so what page? Around page 140 to page 145
Plan here:
This scene is from wolf’s perspective when fighting the bear at the Cave Of The Stone Tooth.

Write your scene here:

Moments ago, Tall Tailless had entered the giant dark mouth, leaving him only with Female Tailless, who was holding with her forepaws the annoying strip of hide that the Taillesses used to restrain him. Wolf hadn’t liked Tall Tailless going into that giant dark mouth all by himself, especially when he knew that his pack-brother was half deaf and very blind in the Dark, but Tall Tailless had reassured him in his rough wolf talk that he would be alright.

Wolf sat on the patch of grass and spotted a spider, and was about to chase after it when he suddenly he smelled something. Something bad. He recognised it as that shambling beast that smelled like rotten prey. Bad bad bad bad bad bad. He had to warn the two Tailless of the danger they were currently oblivious to. Wolf tried giving Female Tailless an urgent warning ‘Uff’ to alert her, she looked at him but acted confused and did nothing about it.

Suddenly, there was some twittering and and several swift flapping sounds, and he looked up and saw multiple panicked greenfinches flying away. Female Tailless responded to it, picking up something even he couldn’t detect. She ran to the edge of the hill that the giant dark mouth lay on and stared. After a few seconds Female Tailless seemed to have been alerted to the presence of the beast. She immediately bounded to the giant dark mouth and called to Tall Tailless.

Female Tailless was lumbering around in panic. Wolf tugged desperately on the leash and that seemed to snap her out of it. She followed him into the giant dark mouth. The mouth narrowed down the deeper they went. That was good, as the beast wouldn’t be able to get though. Female Tailless might as well have been blind, as she kept bumping into rocks in the mouth. He briefly wonded why a creature’s mouth would be full of rocks. Female Tailless was dragging the rawhide den she had put him in, and took out a round piece of hide. He had seen it before, when traveling. Tall Tailless stopped and took it out and out came some still wet.

Abruptly, it was wrenched out of her hand by some force. She was slammed against the hard walls of the mouth. Dazed, Female Tailless grabbed him and pulled him into a hollow. Suddenly a deafening growl thundered through the cave. The bear was here. A very angry and extremely aggressive demon bear.

From deep inside the mouth, he heard the sound of Tall Tailless calling. Was Tall Tailless alright? Without warning, Female Tailless stupidly peered through the narrow gap in the cave. Another thundering growl shook the cave, causing Female Tailless to put her forepaws over her strangely shaped ears. Rashly, Female Tailless crawled out of the narrow gap, to where the beast was, pulling him with her. Suddenly, the beast’s black eye appeared, staring straight at Female Tailless. As if under a spell, Female Tailless leaned forward. Wolf wrenched her back, breaking the spell.

Enraged, the bear started clawing at the cave mouth trying to dig them out. Female Tailless started whimpering, but Wolf snarled at the beast outside. This seemed to snap Female Tailless out of it. Female Tailless took up the strangely shaped branch and the hollow tree that she used to store the-small-claw-that-flies-far. She rose and got to her feet. She said something in Tailless talk, and emerged from the hollow and took position.
