-“Proficiency” test by Shannon Nichols. This was a story about honor roll student with high expectation to pass every test but fail writing. The story was well written with simple sentences, right choice of words for each expression in each paragraph. I can see she was able to express her frustration throughout the story. How she is tried to give up her writings, how she had prepare for the test and how she did the test by doing what was expected of her.

-summary: This is about a girl named Marjorie coming to America in her high school years, having a thick accent and writing in Spanish and not even looking Spanish but the way they ate and her accent said other wise. She was good at writing poems in her Spanish type language.
-Rhetorical Analysis: This lady, Marjorie has written many poems, stories in Spanish when she came to America to simply remember her life when she was younger and living in Chile. She says how it is important to always keep your original home with you at heart and that is why she writes in Spanish. Her argument about the new English she had to learn was hard but she always kept her Spanish with her. That is how she got known with her writing, someone had translated her work and showed others how good it is to keep your original home with you.
