Wizarding Idiom
1. "Galloping gargoyles" atay "Gulping gargoyles"
Diketahui juga sebagai "Gallopin' Gorgons". Yang dulu digunakan oleh Cornelius Fudge dan Profesor Tofty ketika mereka mengekspresikan keterkejutan yang berlebihan dan yang terakhir digunakan oleh Rubeus Hagrid pada tahun 1991 ketika ia lupa memberitahu Albus Dumbledore bahwa ia telah memberikan Harry Potter surat penerimaan Hogwarts. Sebuah plesetan dari "Gallopin 'gals".
2. "I wouldn't come near you with a ten-foot broomstick".
Sinonim dengan "ten-foot pole", di dunia Muggle.
Digunakan dalam referensi untuk seseorang atau sesuatu yang dianggap susah didekati atau menyinggung.
3. "Like some common goblin".
Frase sering digunakan dalam dunia Muggle dengan frase merendahkan seperti "gipsi" atau "pelacur" menggantikan makhluk goblin. Seperti idiom yang digunakan untuk mengartikan orang yang sedang dibahas dan bertindak dalam umum dalam hal yang tidak menyenangkan, dengan cara, "kelas rendah".
4. "Ten a Knut".
Identik dengan "ten a penny", yang berarti menjadi begitu umum, untuk menjadi sesorang yang tidak berguna.
5. "Wasn't room to swing a Kneazle".
Plesetan dari "No room to swing a cat", yang artinya adalah sangat sempit. Digunakan oleh Rubeus Hagrid untuk menggambarkan daerah dimana raksasa hidup (Perhatikan dalam pepatah asli, "kucing" adalah semacam cambuk, yang mengapa satu akan berayun).
6. "Losing a Knut and finding a Galleon".
Identik dengan Idiom Muggle, "Losing a sixpence and finding a shilling" atau uang Muggle lainnya. Ungkapannya berarti bahwa dengan kehilangan sesuatu dari relatif yang tidak terlalu penting, seseorang akan mendapatkan keuntungan yang superior secara tiba-tiba.
7. "Like bowtruckles on doxy eggs".
Plesetan dari kata-kata Muggle "like white on rice", yang berarti untuk menempel seseorang atau sesuatu yang sangat erat.
8. "Time is Galleons"
sama dengan "time is money" artinya uang terbuang percuma ketika tidak digunakan dengan baik/secara produktif.
9. "Tip of the dungheap"
sama dengan "tip of the iceberg" artinya bagian kecil dari sesuatu yang besar.
10. "To have a hairy heart" sama dengan "to have a heart of stone" yang artinya dingin dan tidak berperasaan.
