Batu bertuah adalah batu yang membuat orang hidup kekal. Keberadaannya tidak diketahui berasal darimana. Tetapi batu tersebut diceritakan oleh J.K. Rowling pada buku pertamanya yang berjudul Phylosopher Stone (atau gimana deh tulisannya).
Di buku itu Harry Potter yang masih berada di grade satu, bertemu dengan Quirrell di suatu tempat. Di sana ada cermin penampil keinginan terbesar. Saat bertemu Quirrell, di kaca tersebut Harry melihat dirinya bersama kedua orang tuanya.
Lalu ternyata si Quirrell itu adalah Voldemort yang belum jadi. Ia dan Harry sempat beradu mulut, dan mengurung Harry di lautan api. Tetapi entah mengapa Harry pingsan dan saat ia terbangun, batu itu ada di tangannya.
