Batu Bertuah merupakan batu yang dapat berfungsi untuk membuat pemiliknya hidup abadi. Awalnya batu itu dimiliki oleh seorang ahli kimia berumur 665 tahun bernama Nicholas Flamel.
Kemudian Harry menemukan Professor Snape yang tengah menyelinap ke dalam Hutan Terlarang, berbicara mengenai Batu Bertuah dengan Quirinus Quirrell. Harry menyimpulkan bahwa Snape mencoba untuk mencuri Batu Bertuah dan Quirrell menyiapkan pertahanan.
Ketika Harry berada di Hutan Terlarang, seekor Centaurus memberitahu dia bahwa dengan meminum darah Unicorn dapat cukup untuk memperoleh kekuatan yang cukup untuk hidup abadi dari Batu Bertuah, dan memperoleh kekuatan penuh dengan meminumnya.
Di sebuah ruangan Harry bertemu dengan Quirrell yang ditutupi tudung hitam, di belakang kepalanya terdapat Voldemort yang menginginkan Batu tersebut. Hampir Harry gagal mempertahankan Batu, namun ketika Harry menyentuh Quirrell tubuhnya seperti kesakitan dan lenyap.
