Session 2 Notes: Norfolk Fire Department.
Suicidal: You guys will switch to TAC 1. A-1 usally sets jump nets usless if the victims tells FD not to. You are able to set jump nets from the jump bags. Go around the entire building if possible not being noticed. After jump nets are set, go back to the ambulance and take cover and let Ladder do its job. Ladder will be positioned where the ladder is at normal position.

One of the ladder operators will get on the Ladder, and attempt to negotiate from there. You do not set up the ladder unless given permission to by the victim. The Person on the ladder will negotiate using their wits, and avoiding clichés such as: "Your family cares about you." "You have people that love you" Only use them if you TRULEY need to buy time, and you 100% know that they have a family.

You will speak to the victim until they ask to come down, the easy way or the hard way. If its easy way, extend the ladder to the roof. You then climb up, take him/her down, then A-1 treats if needed. If it's the hard way, still alive ,make sure that you have PD there incase if victim tries to assault FD. After the victim is down, L-1 retracts Ladder then clear. A-1 clear or transport. This will take an hour max, unless if you are good.

MVA/ Motor Vechile Accident;
Triage - Decides the order of treatment for patients or casualties. You should attempt to treat people in this Triage order: Critical, Mild, Minor, D.O.A. The dead is dead, you have a small-no chance chance of bringing them back. The minor injured people do not need as much attention as people that are critical.

After A-1 arrives, they will standby for treating while rescues operates. Rescue will attemp to extract and save people, while Ambulance will treat. If you are attempting to extract someone from a motor vehicle, try and use the Jaws of Life as a last resort. You are able to use the haligan on windows and soft metals. The Jaws of Life is not a toy, it is able to tear a car apart in less than 10 seconds. You will be suspended if caught abusing it. Attach a C Collar around their neck, then use a backboard for them to be placed on after they are extracted. A-1 treat if needed. Continue doing this until you reach no one left. Clean up the site after, then clear when ready. This will take at max about 10 minutes if you are good.
