As you all probably know, the human race is renowned for lies and deceipt and as for youtube, there's almost no hope left. Obviously there has to be some reasoning behind blatantly lying to your fanbase but whether positive or negative Without further ado, Here are five Youtubers who made some pretty significant lies and tried to hide them, why? in order to either profit for that mad ad revenue cash, or to simply grow their fanbase.
Number 5 is Zoella, With 11 Million subscribers, Zoe Sugg was involved in a huge media uproar after fans identified that the book she supposedly wrote, titled girl-online, which at the time in 2014, broke the record for first-week book sales selling a total of 78,109 copies in just under 7 days. Was not actually written by Zoella as she claimed it was, in fact it was written by a legitimate author by the name of Siobhan Curham. One could only assume that she wanted to hide the fact that she was physically unable to write the book herself due to, possibly, the time it takes to produce her content for her fans, in reality it could have been anything so I'm not going to jump to conclusions. Regardless, she has since come out of that dark period of time in her youtube career and is now a flourishing, authentic youtuber with a bright future.
In number 4 we have a combination of youtubers by the names of Tmartn, Syndicate and JoshOG, earlier this year a youtuber by the name of Honorthecall with roughly 10,000 subscribers made a video essentially exposing these three significant figures in the CSGO community, Tmartn, JoshOG and Syndicate, were all apart of a scandal that was based around a CSGO skin gambling website by the name of CSGO Lotto, these youtubers would frequently upload videos encouraging their viewers both young and old to play on this gambling website through reaction videos. Little did the viewers know, they actually owned CSGOlotto and were making significant profits from it at the expense of many, many people. Now the point in which they lied where another youtuber H3H3production pointed out was their blatant lie to their fans quoting in their description that they had no affiliations with the website. Which is arguably the biggest lie on youtube. Some people call it smart, and some people call it plain stupid. Regardless, all three channels have been plagued by this lie but will continue to move forward in hopes that this all blows over.
Number 3 we move over to a prominent figure in the countdown community, matthew santoro with 4 million subscribers. Matthew Santoro's scandal started when he decided to make a video complaining about the current state of youtube and how drama is having a negative impact on, youtube as a whole and that people aren't original. Which as GradeAUnderA quickly identified was rather ironic, what others alongside GradeAUnderA discovered with remarkable evidence and research was that Matthew Santoro blatantly plagiarised word for word some of his content from the website Listverse so as you could imagine a lot of people were enraged by this fact and he made a formal apology on his twitter saying that from now on he will cite all of his sources in his future videos, in hopes to make a positive change heading into the future. Obviously it is rather ironic how a significant youtuber who makes a bold statement such as people are being unoriginal on youtube, is unoriginal himself. Since the drama, Santoro has rebuilt his channel and is now producing original content that a lot of people enjoy.
Now number 2 is sort of a rumour that has been circulating recently about a youtuber by the name of Ltcorbis who is a 12 year old youtuber whos content is compared to the likes of Leafyishere and Pyrocynical, now drama has currently been circulating that LtCorbis is not actually 12 years of age. I personally find these rumours absolutely rediculous but let's take a quick look as to why people whole-heartedly believe that LtCorbis is not as young as she says she is. So first of all, her vocabulary in her videos is far superior to that of most 12 year olds this along with some of the tweets that she has put out make it seem like she is a little more matured than the internet thinks a typical 12 year old should be. Now personally I'm surprised as to how this girl manages to speak in the manor that she does without people complaining. Considering how everyone is offended by everything in 2016. Now I'm not saying these accusations are true just interesting.
Finally in number 1 we have Marina Joyce a woman who has made a name for herself on youtube recently as she was giving hints through twitter and her videos that she had been either kidnapped or that something very, very serious was going on in her life. Little did the youtube community know they were being played for subscribers, concerned and worried for the safety of Marina Joyce the youtube community stepped in as a helping hand and was genuinely concerned, nothing like this had ever been seen on Youtube before so the initial reactions of the people were to follow her every move, that in particular equated to over One million extra subscribers in the span of 2 days and over 30 million video views. The fastest growth youtube has ever seen. But it was artificial, people subscribed to see more and Joyce understood that. After a period of time once the drama had slowed down, people realized that it was all a lie and that the youtube community was overreacting what people also realized was that she blatantly lied to the Youtube community. An official report came from the Enfield police including herself that she was absolutely fine.
Let me end the video on this, Let me ask you, to put things into perspective, would you lie for a two day wage of 60,000 pounds? For extra subscribers Because that's approximately how much money Marina Joyce would have made including the million extra subscribers that has set her up for life. If you're new to the channel subscribe, if you do I'll be sure to give you one free moose actually you know what, if I see some likes down below I'll throw in another moose. 2 Moose for both subscribing to my channel and liking the video, I'm anonymoose and I'll see you in the next video.
