She holds him close hoping that it would help him calm his nerves, but the flashbacks haunt him. Every time his past, the life he’s lived without a father flashes before his eyes, a little bit of his soul dies. She sees right through him and she knows that maybe her touch is the only thing that can keep him grounded, the only thing that can keep him sane. She tries her best to soothe him but he has to vent out the frustration that had been building up since he was a child. He turns destructive and yet she doesn’t give up on him, because that’s what you do when you love someone. You never give up on them. You stand by them and hold their hand through the good, the bad and the ugly.
He stands there looking like a broken child with his eyes down. She holds him & tries to bring him back to life. She wipes away the blood from his forehead, she can’t stand to see his eyes well up, how can she stomach the fact that he is bleeding? She kisses his wounds hoping it will take away the pain and she’s willing to put her life at stake to make sure he stops hurting. A distraction is what he needs she thinks. She prays that her propinquity is the salve to his ache. She holds him close and kisses him because he is not the only person who is broken & hurting, she feels the pain all the same as they are soul mates in the truest sense. She backs him up & wraps his arms around her because he is not the only one who needs to be saved. If he’s hurting, she hurts too.
