OBJECTIVE
Create a single, impactful presentation slide that clearly synthesizes and visualizes the key insurance business metrics, dimensions, and definitions as extracted from the following documentation (summarized below). The intent is for this slide to serve as a reference and instructional guide for analysts, business users, and executives reviewing performance dashboards or reporting on Motor and Home insurance lines.
AUDIENCE
Insurance business stakeholders (e.g., Managers, Executives, Data Analysts, Finance, BI teams).
Users who may be unfamiliar with detailed definitions but need to understand what each metric means, how it is calculated, and its relevance.
Slide may be used in training, reporting, and management discussions.
PRINCIPLES & STYLE
Clarity & Accessibility: Information should be easy to scan, using well-organized sections, inviting visuals, and clear language.
Hierarchical Information: Emphasize which measures are “Simple” (raw counts/sums) vs. “Calculated” (formulas/rates).
Infographic Approach: Favor clear icons, shapes, and minimalistic, business-friendly colors (e.g., blue, green, orange, grey). Avoid cartoonish graphics; aim for professional appeal.
Group Related Metrics: Visually group (e.g., with boxes or alignment) the sets for Motor Retention, Motor Sales, Motor Strike Rate, Home Endorsements/Cancellations.
Formula Transparency: For calculated metrics, include the explicit formulas.
Definitions: Each metric MUST include a short definition/caption.
Icons: Consider relevant icons; e.g., for “Policy”, “Premium”, “Renewal”, “Cancellation”.
Avoid Data: No actual numbers/charts—rather, the logic and description of each metric and its meaning.
Branding: Placeholder for company logo or leave a space for branding if provided.
CONTENT TO VISUALIZE (SYNTHESIZED FROM SOURCE DOCS)
1. Motor Retention Rate Measures
Simple Measures:
offered_count: Total number of renewal offers ("Offered").
Definition: Summation of "offered" column.
renewed_count: Total number of renewed policies ("Renewed").
Definition: Summation of "renewed" column.
Calculated Measure:
Retention Rate: Proportion of offered policies that renewed.
Formula: renewed_count / offered_count.
2. Motor Strike Rate Measures
Simple Measures:
policySUM: Sum of policies generated.
appliedSUM: Sum of policies where customer chose to apply.
qprintSUM: Sum of quotes printed.
paidupSUM: Sum of policies paid up.
noquotesSUM: Sum of number of quotes.
Calculated Measures:
Strike Rate: (policySUM / noquotesSUM) × 100.
Definition: Policies generated per number of quotes.
Paid-Up Rate: (paidupSUM / noquotesSUM) × 100.
Print Rate: (qprintSUM / noquotesSUM) × 100.
Applied Rate: (appliedSUM / noquotesSUM) × 100.
Back-Dated Cancel Rate: (1 - (paidupSUM / policySUM)) × 100.
3. Motor Transacted Sales Measures
Simple Measures:
new_mtr_risks_cancelled: Total new motor risks cancelled (Sum of "new_m_can_cnt")
new_mtr_premium_cancelled: Premium amount cancelled (Sum of "new_m_can_prem")
new_mtr_risks_written: Total new policies written (Sum of "new_m_wrt_cnt")
new_mtr_premium_written: Written premium (Sum of "new_m_wrt_prem")
Calculated Measures:
Premium Written in $000: new_mtr_premium_written / 1000.
Average Premium: new_mtr_premium_written / new_mtr_risks_written.
Premium Cancelled in $000: new_mtr_premium_cancelled / 1000.
4. Motor Written Premium Measures
Simple Measure:
mtrriskSUM: Total sum of motor risks written. Definition: Sum of "mtrrisk" column.
**Include standard format_string (e.g., comma, Dollar, etc) only visually/hint if space allows._
5. Home Endorsements and Cancellations (if included in scope)
Capture any similar structure as above—count of endorsements, cancellations, etc., definitions, and formulae if available.
LAYOUT IDEAS
Title: "Business Measures Dictionary – Sales, Retention, and Strike Rate – Motor & Home Insurance"
Section blocks or columns for each logical area above.
Bullet or Icon + Short Description for each metric.
For calculated rates: Put the formula in a callout box or under the label with clear typography.
Legend/Key: Optional at bottom or side if using icons.
Professional font (Arial, Calibri, Segoe UI, Cambria, etc.).
NOTES FOR DESIGN AGENT
Do not use example numbers; this is a TAXONOMY slide, not a dashboard or report.
If slide becomes too crowded, allow the designer to use a “continued on next slide” section, but the primary goal is a 1-slide summary.
Try to balance white space for readability.
The slide will be reused and shared with technical and non-technical audiences—assume no prior knowledge of underlying data tables/column names, but keep technical accuracy in the formulas.
OUTPUT/DELIVERABLE
Provide a single presentation slide (or set of slide elements and layout instructions if direct slide export isn’t possible).
If possible, also output a copy-pasteable description as alt-text or "slide notes" summarizing each group of metrics and their business relevance.
