1. Taekwondo (juga dieja Tae Kwon Do atau Taekwon-Do) adalah seni bela diri asal Korea yang juga sebagai olahraga nasional Korea. Ini adalah salah satu seni bela diri populer di dunia yang dipertandingkan di Olimpiade.
2. Taekwondo berasal dari Kata:
1). Tae, yaitu Kaki artinya menghancurkan dengan tendangan (Kicking).
2). Kwon, yaitu Tangan artinya menhantam dan mempertahankan diri dengan tangan.
3). Do, yaitu Seni artinya suatu metode/sistem aturan khusus (khas/unik), juga berarti cara mendisiplinkan diri.
Secara keseluruhan, ‘Taekwondo’ memiliki arti sebagai metode seni beladiri yang memiliki pemahaman filosofi & ciri khas tersendiri (khusus/unik) yang menggunakan keahlian tendangan kaki (kicking) dan pukulan serta tangkisan tanpa menggunakan senjata. Seni beladiri Taekwondo sangat merakyat dimana pokok dari konsepnya adalah totalitas, loyalitas, respect, dan kekuatan (power), yaitu tediri dari speed (kecepatan), teknik, akurasi, dan ketepatan dalam setiap moment.
3. WTF adalah singkatan dari World Taekwondo Federation, WTF adalah suatu badan Federasi Taekwondo Dunia yang resmi berdiri pada tanggal 28 Mei 1973, dengan Presidennya Kim Un Yong, dan bermarkas di Kukkiwon (Seoul) Korea Selatan. WTF program resmi pertahanan nasional kalangan Polisi dan tentara. WTF beranggotakan lebih dari 186 negara.
