🧊 1. Warmer (10–15 min) — “Computer Rules: Right or Wrong?”
Reconnect with previous lesson + introduce idea of rules.
How:
Show funny or relatable situations:
Someone eating near a computer
Someone typing carefully
Someone pulling cables
Ask:
“Is this good or bad?”
Students answer:
“Good!” / “Bad!”
👉 Don’t introduce must/mustn’t yet—just concept of rules.
📚 2. Presentation (15–20 min) — Introduce “Must / Mustn’t”
Now connect rules to language.
Write examples:
“You must be careful.”
“You mustn’t eat near the computer.”
Explain simply:
must = important / rule ✅
mustn’t = not allowed ❌
Use clear examples with gestures:
👍 “You must clean the keyboard.”
👎 “You mustn’t hit the screen.”
Concept check questions:
“Is it OK?” (for mustn’t → NO)
“Is it important?” (for must → YES)
🎯 3. Practice (20–25 min) — Game: “Must or Mustn’t Challenge”
How it works:
Show situations (images or act them out):
Students hold up:
✅ “MUST”
❌ “MUSTN’T”
Gamification:
Teams get points
Add speed rounds
Example prompts:
“Eat near computer” → MUSTN’T
“Use keyboard carefully” → MUST
“Throw the mouse” → MUSTN’T
👉 This is simple but very effective.
🧠 4. Practice 2 (15–20 min) — “Fix the Rules” Game
Give incorrect sentences:
“You must eat near the computer.” ❌
“You mustn’t clean the screen.” ❌
Students correct:
“You mustn’t eat…”
“You must clean…”
👉 Great for deeper understanding.
🚀 5. Production (25–30 min) — Main Game: “Create Computer Rules Poster”
🎨 Task:
In groups, students create a “Computer Lab Rules” poster
They must write:
At least 3 MUST rules
At least 3 MUSTN’T rules
Example:
You must use the keyboard carefully
You mustn’t eat near the computer
🎤 Presentation:
Each group presents:
“You must…”
“You mustn’t…”
🏆 Gamification:
Give points for:
Correct grammar
Clear speaking
Creativity (drawings/colors)
Optional fun categories:
“Most Creative”
“Best English”
“Funniest Rule”
🏁 6. Closing (5–10 min) — “Teacher Says” (like Simon Says)
Say:
“You must stand up” → students do it
“You mustn’t stand up” → students DON’T move
If they move incorrectly → out (or lose points)
👉 Super fun and reinforces meaning physically.
💡 Why this lesson works
Builds directly from computer vocabulary
Clear real-life context (rules in lab)
Repetition without boredom
Strong speaking + interaction
🔥 Pro tip
Keep the same teams and points system from the first lesson.
It creates:
continuity
motivation
a “game world” feeling
If you want, I can:
Make a printable “Must/Mustn’t” worksheet
Give you slides + pictures
Simplify it for lower-level students
Just tell me 👍
