Causey Farm Trip
Our first trip of transition year was to Causey Farm. I didn't know what to expect when I first heard we were going on this trip. Other people's opinions certainly didn't help either. Some told me it was so much fun and were jealous that I was going, while others were telling I'd better off not going at all. We arrived at school at 8:40 in the morning to get the bus. The journey took about an hour. When we arrived we divided into our class groups to go to our activities. Our guide for the day was a woman named Nellie. We dropped our bags at the main building and then Nellie brought us to see some animals. She then brought us to a mirror maze. Although it was one of the first things we did on the day, it was one of the most enjoyable. I only wish it were longer as I got through it over times in under five minutes. When we were finished, we were met by a man with a long beard, a bald head and a large smile. He told us his name was Andy and that he would be our guide due to Nellie having to do a job. After telling us this he brought us to a cow named, unsurprisingly, named Daisy. He asked if anyone wanted to try milking her, before showing us how it is done. As expected, not many people were willing to put themselves forward. Unexpectedly, however, was the fact that out of those who did do it, it was mostly girls. I was the second last to do it. I asked Andy about the anatomy of cows and their bone structure. The answers I received were interesting because I've never been told anything on the subject, nor have I really thought about it, for that matter. Milking the cow was a strange process, but I'm glad I did it.

Andy brought us to look at more animals. To be perfectly honest, I've never been an animal person and unless they're doing something of significance, I'd typically not enjoy watching animals. This was an exception because it was slightly more engaging. We had a competition to see who could pick up a chicken he quickest. Unfortunately, the door to the hen house was left open and by the time we were all in the enclosure, there was only three chickens out in the open (four if you count the one that escaped through a hole in the fence). After everyone had had enough of chasing chickens, we moved onto chasing donkeys.
