Fwooper adalah burung Afrika dengan bulu-bulu cerah, warnanya bisa oranye, pink, hijau limau, atau kuning. Bulu Fwooper telah lama dijadikan pena bulu yang indah, burung ini juga menelurkan telur-telur bermotif dan berwarna cerah.
Nyanyian Fwooper meski awalnya enak dinikmati, akhirnya akan mendorong pendengarnya jadi gila. Karena hal itu, akibatnya Fwooper dijual dilengkapi dengan Mantra Pembisu atau istilahnya Silencing Charm, dan setiap bulan mantranya perlu dikuatkan, seperti halnya Disillusionment Charm pada Hippogriff. Selain itu para pemilik Fwooper perlu surat izin karena hewan ini harus ditangani dengan penuh tanggung jawab.
Pernah ada penelitian dari seorang penyihir … Uric The Oddball. Uric the Oddball ini salah satu penyihir aneh, mungkin juga esentrik dan terkadang melakukan beberapa penelitian. Salah satunya, beliau meyakinkan dewan penyihir bahwa mendengar nyanyian Fwooper bagus untuk kesehatan. Selama tiga bulan Uric mendengarkan nyanyian Fwooper tanpa henti. Dewan penyihir tetap tidak percaya, karena Uric menghadiri pertemuan tidak memakai apa pun kecuali rambut palsu, dan rambut palsu tersebut ternyata adalah musang yang mati. Oddball kalau diartikan itu 'esentrik', beliau ini pernah bersekolah di Hogwarts dan berasal dari asrama Ravenclaw.
Fwooper melambangkan angka 4 dalam Rune.
