Notes brand slogan

Notes - notes.io

All-mountain skis - easy to turn, narrow waist(up to 90mm), hold an edge on groomed routes and hard snow

All-mountain wide skis - wide waists(91mm -109mm), better flotation in soft snow, doesn't effect turning on groomed trails that much

Powder skiis - best for powder and backcountry skiing, deep powder, waist of 109mm or higher, not built for precise turning on groomed runs

Narrower waists make turning easier when skiing hard snow; wider waists work better in powder

Bindings on women's ski are usually mounted a little farther forward on skis than men's bindings, this gives it more balance, stability and responsiveness

Height - Skis should be between your nose and eyebrows

Weight - bigger the person the longer or wider skis you should have, extra surface can help distribute weight

Experience - shorter skis appeal to novice skiers, cause its easier to turn. Veteran skiers choose on what type of turn they want to make, short = smaller/quicker turn. Long = longer/wider turn.

Terrain - twisty, narrow trails you would want shorter skis, for quickly maneuvering into tight turns

Ski dimension - Tip/Waist/Tail - (131/98/119)

Tip - A wide tip (120 mm or higher) floats easier on soft snow. On hard snow, wider tips with a narrow waist are good for short-radius carved turns

Waist - Most important of all three, narrow waists allow you to establish an edge sooner which is ideal for groomed runs. You can shift edge to edge faster with narrow waists also. Wide waists deliver more surface area, making them better in soft snow and powder

Tail - Back end of a ski helps sustain turns, usually matters more fast-turning experienced skiers. Experienced skiers usually prefer wider tails. A wider tail resists sideways skid and sustains speed. Some prefer narrower tails, which are better for wide turns

Turning radius - skis with low turning radius numbers (low to mid teens) are better for making tight, short-radius turns. Higher numbers (upper teens and above) are better suited for long-radius turns and fast descents

Camber - Built in spring that makes a ski lively, provides stability and the skis metal edge can initiate turns

Rocker - Opposite of a camber, offers improved flotation in powder and greater maneuverability
