Asian Immigration to the US
- Chinese were treated out west like blacks were treated in the South
- Asian means you are not Christian

2. Nativism is the idea that goes against immigrants from coming into your country. There has been an enormous number of immigrants coming into the United States as they search for the American dream, full of money and hopes. However, there was a group of people who disliked immigrants because some of the original Anglo-Saxon population were worried that their population would get outbred and outvoted by the new immigrants. The immediate causes for nativism to rise so quickly was because of 1. how ignorant the Americans were, 2. how Americans did not want to lose their economic status, and 3. how racist the Americans could be.
1. Concluded immigrants just by their cover; They did not like the Chinese, so the government passed the Chinese exclusion act in 1882
2. Did not want to lose jobs because they wanted to get paid; Congress banned foreign workers from immigrating to the country so that Americans could get more wages
