They tell experts where storms and other weather conditions are. Now experts can use something new. Some Airliners can tell what the weather.
The planes carry special instruments. They are the size of a shoebox. They are near the nose of the plane. As the plane flies, these tools take information every few seconds. Collect information on storms, temperature and fog.
The information collected by the instruments could help in many ways. How? The instruments could help power companies. Imagine an electric company knows that heat comes. It might make more electricity. The aircraft could also be safer. Instruments could warn when there is a lot of ice on the wings. That could cause accidents.
A company called AirDathizo weather instruments. ARINC is the other company that also makes the instruments. Both companies want to sell their products to the Weather Service of the United States. That way, they could tell us more about how it will be time.
