Week we decided would be 23rd-27th January being mindful of the clashes with Holocaust Memorial Day and Chinese New Year
Events: MUN hosting a live talk to be streamed (possibly speak to Aden or Jonathan about how we do that); Politics Society to host a debate; film screening with Q&A (Did we want a panel of NGOs for this, (I’ll give this job to Elliot); other middle-eastern societies to host their own events- Tarun to contact them to ask what they want to do.
Syrian cupcakes
Online publicity: social media- twitter/ facebook copy, copy for union house screens, and fb events on website, teaching spaces design.
Logo: Now we discussed possibly having the Syrian border/ using Syrian flag; (I was going to give Jonathan a heads up about the logo design.)
*New idea* as much as I get the focus on Syrian refugees I’m just wondering whether the Syrian border is particularly evocative of what we want to get out of the campaign and I don’t know whether something like referencing the Calais fence/ barbed wire- also it could make the clash with Holocaust Memorial Day work for us- I know some radical groups like ACT Up London and Lesbian and Gay Support the Migrants used Holocaust Memorial Day last year to raise awareness about refugees- just depends how you want to go, but that might give us a good message and image to catch attention?

2. Contact Paksoc for Henna, Indian Soc for flash mob, ACS for dance
3. Contact Elvis beya- refugees in norwich screening
4. Contact Middle eastern socs about what they want to do
