黑暗中一道火光亮起，Carol的藍眼倒映柴火燃燒的幾秒後，一縷白煙在她眼前飄起，藍眼睛很快又回歸黑夜。
點好菸的右手將火柴收回床頭櫃後，順勢輕撫枕邊人恰好轉向自己的臉龐，依稀能聽到對方規律十足的呼吸聲，想起剛才的夢，Carol輕嘆了口氣，修長的手指捲著對方深褐色的髮絲。
那是一個很糟糕的夢。
她夢到Therese站在自己的墓前，空蕩蕩的墳場只有她一個人，還有傾盆大雨。
Carol看著自己的手，剛才夢中飄在空中的感覺還記得一清二楚，還有可怕的無力感，夢中的Carol只能看著Therese一個人憔悴、六神無主。
然後，只能眼睜睜看著她的女孩獨自一人，在雨中轉身離去。
Carol的眉頭緊鎖，深思著死亡。
Therese的呼吸聲再次將Carol拉回現實，搶在菸頭掉落前，趕緊往地上彈了彈菸。
總有一天，她們一定會離開彼此，只是時間早晚，Carol不得不承認，她的身體與以往年輕時大不相同，即使依靠保養、注重養生也還是不一樣。
她看著Therese美好年輕的臉龐思索，如果以後自己先死了，Therese怎麼辦？
她沒有像自己一樣有多年的好友，更別提孩子。
親人，更是如傳說般的東西。
Carol手中的菸還在燃燒著，她開始對Therese的交友圈感到好奇，也許她在時代上班會認識新朋友，或是新客戶？
當初介紹她工作的那個⋯⋯傑克？不，是丹尼。
她還記得Therese跟她說過，他還親了她，真是個怪人。
但是，也許⋯⋯也許他能夠在自己死後幫助Therese⋯⋯
Carol手中的菸熄了，驚覺到自己的想法後忍不住笑了起來，低聲咒罵自己是個神經女人後嘆了口氣，再次捻熄香菸、躺回被窩，面對還在夢中的Therese，親了親她的額頭，Therese嘟噥幾句後翻了翻身，正好躺進Carol的懷中，她伸手將她抱得更緊一點。
今晚又是個失眠的夜。
