Primitive Survival Project Plan:
Create video that shows how to make snare, when, where, why, how (presentation, creativity, knowledge!)
(Remember, you're going to do a demonstration on how to create it and how it works to the class tomorrow!)
(Finished product, the snare that's created while doing the demonstration, is also going to be the visual aid)

For video:
-Introduction: Hello, there. Today, I'm going to be teaching you about drag snares.
First: when and where?
-Drag snares are great at trapping small wildlife, like rabbits. Basically, what a drag snare does, is it catches the head, and, this is important, only the head, of the animal you're trying to catch, in the snare, and the stick attached is dragged along. Drag snares should only be used where there's a lot of underbrush, a lot of plants and shrubs to catch the stick in, an enclosed area where the animal is more likely to run into the trap. It's also possible to set up sticks alongside the trap, kind of like these pencils, so there are places for the stick to be trapped. And once the stick is trapped by something, once it's entangled with the surrouding brush, the snare'll close around the neck of the animal as it tries to get itself loose. If there's not enough brush there, not enough stuff to catch this stick by, the prey can escape, so that's very important. If the area's too open, there are other types of snares too that would work better in those conditions. It's best to set this snare during the evening, so during the night, an animal will be caught and the following morning, you can go to the trap and catch the animal. Remember, this animal's probably going to be struggling to get out, so the wire, or string, has to be sturdy, and so does whatever the stick's going to be caught on. Also, an animal caught in this snare might still be alive in the morning, so be cautious when approaching it, because it's gonna be really angry.

Materials: For a drag snare, you'll need two sticks like this, where there's a y-shape at the top, so that another stick can rest atop that opening there. You'll also need some type of wire, snare wire is recommended but not necessary. But, maybe you don't have that stuff, so it can also be made with string, shoelaces, or, if you're really desperate, even plant fibre or some kind of similar material you can find in the wilderness. The height of these two sticks differs on the type of prey you want to catch, but for, say, a rabbit, 6-9 inches is recommended, once these two sticks are in the ground. The cross-section, the other stick, should be about the same length as the other two. These two are longer since they have to be planted in the ground first. Since we only want the head of the animal being caught, the snare should be about half an inch above the ground, ideally.

How to do it: First up, gather the required materials, which I have here. Then, locate an area to put the snare, somewhere where the animal will definitely be caught, with a lot of obstructions. Look for animal droppings, nesting sites, den holes, chewed vegetation, and just, in general, good, clean water, where the animals might go to drink. Then, place the two y-sticks in the ground, and the final one on top, right there. For the noose, you place a loop on one end, you can tie a knot here, a fisherman's knot on a bite, maybe, or, for a simpler way, you can just form a loop like this, and then twist around like this, although this one works only for wire. Afterwards, you fold this loop down, then back, like this, and over. Put the other end through this loop... then adjust it a little, I've decided to use this lovely cat as a reference, so that the head of the animal can fit. Then, you can finally tie the snare around the drag stick like this, and you're done!
(Show cat thing being caught?)
