Dirilis dalam Pottermore, Ilvermorny menceritakan kisah Isolt Sayre. Dia adalah wanita berdarah Irlandia yang mendirikan sekolah tersebut. Setelah orang tuanya dibunuh, Isolt diadopsi oleh sang bibi yang merupakan seorang penyihir jahat, Gormlaith Gaunt (moyang Voldemort). Isolt Sayre menyebrang ke Amerika setelah perseteruan dengan bibinya bertemu dengan dua kakak beradik Chadwick dan Webster Boot dan mengadopsi mereka. Setelahnya ia bertemu dengan seorang no-maj, atau muggle atau manusia biasa dalam istilah Amerika, bernama James Steward yang kemudian menikahi dirinya. Mereka berempatlah pendiri Ilvermory. Layaknya karakter heroik ala Rowling, cerita Isolt penuh bumbu soal cinta, kesetiaan, dan balas dendam.
Ilvermorny diceritakan hampir sama dengan Hogwarts. Para penyihir dibagi menjadi empat asrama yang dijaga makhluk sihir, yakni Horned Serpent, Pukwudgie, Thunderbird, dan Wampus. Ilvermorny juga disebut sebagai salah satu tempat rahasia terbesar dunia sihir tersimpan.
