'Katakana'
Di Jepang, huruf katakana tidak digunakan dalam kalimat percakapan, tapi digunakan dalam beberapa penulisan, yaitu :
1. Barang/benda yg berasal dari bahasa asing.
2. Nama-nama orang asing.
3. Nama-nama tempat ー atau negara asing.
4. Kata serapan.
5. Kata bahasa jepang yg merupakan kata penekanan atau penegasan.
Kata serapan yang dimaksud yaitu kata yg kebanyakan berasal dari bahasa inggris dan dalam penulisannya pun kebanyakan mengacu pada pengucapan kata bahasa inggris itu sendiri.
Contoh :
Station : ステーション (sutheeshon)
Show : ショー (Shoo)
Fashion : ファッション (Fasshon)
Dari contoh diatas dapat dilihat dari kata bahasa inggris yg diubah ke bahasa jepang.
