"The Reign of Terror", "The Terror", or French "La Terreur" is the period of the French Revolution that started from September 5, 1793 to July 27, 1994. The civil war was spreading so the Revolutionary government decided to causes "Terror" and to take harsh mesures against people who are suspected of being enemies of the revolution. A wave of executioners followed in Paris. The Terror also had an economic side to it. A price control measure demanded by the lower classes of Paris. There was a program of de-Christianization that was persued by the followers of Jacques Hebert. During the Great Terror, the Committee of Public Safety had Maximilien de Reobespierre who stood out the most. 1400 people were executed and that contributed to the all of Roberspierre on July 27. During the Reign of Terror, at least 300,000 suspects were arrested; 17,000 were officially executed, and perhaps 10,000 died in prison or without trial.
