FINDINGS:
Few ill-defined linear and branching hypodense areas are seen involving the right hepatic lobe, communicating with each other, consistent with hepatic lacerations. The maximum parenchymal depth of laceration measures approximately 5.1 cm.
Associated perihepatic collection/hematoma is noted, with mild free intraperitoneal fluid/hemoperitoneum.
IMPRESSION:
Multiple intercommunicating lacerations involving the right hepatic lobe, with maximum parenchymal depth of approximately 5.1 cm, associated with perihepatic hematoma and mild hemoperitoneum — consistent with AAST Grade III hepatic injury.
I would prefer “multiple intercommunicating hepatic lacerations” over “few linear hypodensities communicating with each other” in the final CT report.
