Hippocampus atau kuda air adalah makhluk mitologi Yunani dan Romawi yang memiliki tubuh bagian depan kuda dan bagian belakang ikan. Nama hipokampus berasal dari bahasa Yunani 'hippos' yang berarti kuda dan 'kampos' berarti monster laut. Dipercaya, para pelaut terkadang menenggelamkan kuda sebagai tumbal kepada Poseidon.
Hippocampus sering digambarkan memiliki sisik berwarna hijau dan juga memiliki sirip. Poseidon menggunakan dua atau empat ekor Hippokampus untuk menarik keretanya melintasi lautan. Hippokampus bukan termasuk hewan yang ganas namun setia kepada pemiliknya.
Banyak patung, mosaik dari kaca, ataupun lukisan yang menggambarkan hippocampus, walaupun makhluk ini tidak terlalu sering dibicarakan di masyarakat.
