Aurora
Salah satu materi yang belum pernah di pelajari di kelas Astronomy adalah Aurora. Fenomena ini hanya terjadi di kutub utara. Aurora merupakan pancaran cahaya dengan berbagai macam warna yang ada di langit malam, yang disebabkan oleh partikel yang bermuatan listrik (dipancarkan oleh matahari) dan medan magnet bumi. Saat partikel-partikel ini mendekati bumi, mereka berinteraksi dengan medan magnetik bumi. Medan magnetik bumi membelokkan sebagian besar partikel-partikel matahari yang mengarah ke bumi. beberapa partikel yang tersaring melewati magnetosfer. Partikel tersebut kemudian turun ke atmosfer bumi, memberikan energi ke molekul oksigen dan nitrogen di sana, dan menarik elektron dari molekul gas tersebut. Karena elektron bersemangat kembali ke keadaan normal mereka, mereka melepaskan foton, atau semburan kecil energi dalam bentuk cahaya, yang kita ketahui bernama Aurora.
Terdapat 2 jenis aurora yaitu aurora borealis yang hanya dapat dilihat di kutub utara dan aurora australis yang hanya dapat dilihat di bumi bagian selatan.
Alasan saya memilih materi ini karena Aurora ini sangat indah untuk dilihat dan sayangnya, tidak semua orang bisa melihat aurora.
