Peri adalah makhluk yang mirip dengan manusia kecil dengan sayap yang besar mirip dengan serangga.
Sayap ini ada yang berwarna transparan atau berwarna-warni. Mereka memiliki kecerdasan yang rendah. Dan banyak ditemukan dihutan.
Sayap peri bisa digunakkan untuk hiasan seperti yang pernah disebutkan, ketika Natal pada tahun ketiga Harry bersekolah, Profesor Flitwick menggunakan Peri yang hidup sebagai lampu Natal.
Sayap peri juga bisa digunakkan sebagai bahan dari ramuan. Sayap pada peri jika dicabut tidak akan memberi efek sakit melainkan hanya membuat mereka kesal karena tidak dapat terbang lagi.
Alur kembang biak peri mirip seperti kupu-kupu. Peri menghasilkan 50 telur yang diletakkan dibawah dedaunan → telur menjadi larva berwarna terang → larva memintal diri sendiri menjadi kepompong pada siklus 6 sampai 10 hari
→ kepompong menjadi peri dewasa bersayap.
Kesan Muggle terhadap peri adalah yang paling baik, sama seperti Unicorn. Penyihir percaya, jika dari semua satwa magis yang ada, Peri dan Unicorn memiliki kesan terbaik dari Muggle.
