Referensi ini terutama ditemukan dalam beberapa drama Aristophanes . Mormo juga dirujuk dalam The Alexiad , yang menunjukkan bahwa Mormo masih diajarkan kepada anak-anak selama masa Bizantium . Mormo akan mencuri anak-anak untuk membalas dendam Ratu Laestrygonian yang dirampas oleh anak-anaknya.
Namun, mitologi ini sudah memudar seiring berjalannya waktu.
