Ada tiga jenis system yang bekerja dan saling bekerja sama di dalam pikiran manusia.
a. Conscious Mind (Pikiran Sadar)
Pikiran sadar adalah bentuk pikiran yang proses berjalannya menggunakan nalar, logika, dan sifat analitis. Pikiran sadar pun juga memiliki sifat yang kritis, yang mana otak memiliki fungsi sebagai pengelola pikiran sadar, berada di otak sebelah kiri.
Pikiran sadar mempunyai empat fungsi utama :
Mengenali informasi yang masuk dari sensor tubuh ( baca – panca indera),
Kemudian membandingkan dengan isi memori kita,
Selanjutnya menganalisa informasi tersebut,
Terakhir memutuskan respon apa yang dilakukan terhadap informasi tersebut.
b. Subconscious Mind (SM, alam bawah sadar)
Pikiran bawah sadar adalah suatu proses pikiran yang bertanggung jawab terhadap penyimpanan memori jangka panjang dan pengekspresian emosi.
Hal ini berfungsi secara otomatis tanpa disadari, sehingga pikiran bawah sadar sulit untuk dikendalikan.
Pikiran Bawah Sadar berfungsi memproses
Kebiasaan,
Perasaan,
Memori permanen (Ingatan Jangka Panjang)
Persepsi,
Kepribadian,
Intuisi,
Kreativitas, dan
Keyakinan.
c. Unconscious Mind (UM, alam tidak sadar)
Merupakan sistem yang mengontrol fungsi tubuh yang sama sekali berada diluar kendali kita, seperti pernafasan, kekebalan tubuh, kedipan mata, detak jantung, pencernaan lambung, dsb.
