1. Ada klaim mengenai serangan vampir di Malawi pada akhir tahun 2002 dan awal 2003.
2. Awal tahun 1970 pers lokal menyebar rumor adanya vampir yang menghantui Pemakaman Highgate di London.
Teori pembantahan adanya vampire :
Tahun 2006, seorang profesor Fisika di University of Central Florida menulis sebuah makalah ilmiah yg menyatakan ketiadaan vampire secara matematis. " Menurutnya jika vampir pertama muncul pada tanggal 1 Januari 1600, dan menggigit 1orang dlm 1bulan, dan setiap korban menjadi vampir, maka dalam waktu 2.5 tahun kurang lebih 300 orang atau bahkan seluruh dunia menjadi Vampire.
Banyak cendekiawan lain yg menyangkal keberadaan vampir. Mereka mengklaim yg terjadi adlh penguburan prematur/penguburan orang yg rabies. Tetapi tetap banyak yg mempercayai keberadaan Vampire.
Dom Augustine Calmet, teolog dan cendekiawan Perancis yg dihormati, pada tahun 1746 membuat risalah yg komprehensif keberadaan vampir.Dalam risalah tsbt, Calmet memperlihatkan banyak laporan insiden tentang vampir. Risalah tersebut dikritik oleh Voltaire, dan mendapat dukungan dari demonolog dan menyatakan bahwa Vampire itu nyata.
