Subject line of emailed assignments
-The class name, the lesson number, the assignment name, and your name.
Once you have found the class you want to take and you have all the items needed and all the certificates you need to take the course and so on, you will need to contact the instructor of the course!

You must EMAIL the instructor. Do NOT message them through the school messaging service to join a class.

When you do contact a teacher you will need for them to know exactly what class you are interested in. Keep in mind most teachers here actually have multiple classes, so it is important to make sure that you are letting them know exactly what you are asking to join!

Wrong way to ask: "I want to join your class."

Proper way to ask: "I would be interested in taking (insert class name) with you.

Things to include in your email is to state you have the items that are needed and what you have attached to the email. Also if you have any questions or concerns about the class it would be good to address them at this time.

As I mentioned, we try to keep our class limits small in our regular classes. Usually up to 10 students may be enrolled in a course, this limit is decided upon by the teacher of the class.

Because of this, there may be times when a class you are interested in does not have any seats available.

This is seen when you look at the class description and it shows how many seats available.

Should this happen, you then need to place yourself on a waiting list. As you know, you are only allowed to take 3 courses at a time. When you want to be added to a waiting list, you should leave an open space in your schedule. You want to do this so that you can be added as soon as the next spot in that class becomes available. If you have already chosen to take another class when the next spot becomes available, you will not be granted access to that class, and you will be removed from the waiting list for that class. So if you are placing yourself on a waiting list, you need to keep a spot open for when this class has a seat available!

To place yourself on the waiting list, you must contact the instructor and, very similar to requesting access to a class, you need to state the class you are wanting to join, state that you have the items needed and attach the certificates needed to the request....but you need to acknowledge that you noticed there were no seats available and that you would like to be placed on the waiting list. You also need to let the teacher know that you have left an open spot in your schedule to be added when the next seat becomes available.

So, if we look at the example we have used we would do the following:

You have decided you are wanting to take Basic Elements 101. So we are going to send the teacher an email. We know the teacher is Dani Dracaena and her email address is [email protected] so we are going to go into our email to send her a message.

In the subject line of the email I would suggest simply putting the title of the class, so : Basic Elements 101: An Introduction

In the body of the email I would politely ask her to join her class and confirm the items that I have that are needed and state what I have attached to the email so I would put something like:

Merry meet Ms Dracanea,

I would love to join your class Basic Elements 101: An Introduction, however I notice there are no seats available at this time. I would love to be placed on the waiting list for this class. I currently have both books: Earth Power by Scott Cunningham and Earth, Air, Fire, and Water by Scott Cunningham and I have attached my certificate of completion The Entrance Exam (Hall Pass). I have also left an open spot in my schedule so I can placed in the class whenever the next seat becomes available.

Thank you,

Colleen Criswell [email protected]

Then I would attach the certificate I need to the email and send it out to the teacher.

You will then be placed on the waiting list for this class and once a seat becomes available you will be placed in the class and contacted with a welcome letter.
