Ch.29
1. Atticus thinks Mr. Ewell was crazy. Mr. Tate think Bob was just mean and drink enough to go after children. I agree with Heck Tate. Bob Ewell was aware of his actions and the consequences making him in his right mind. He just didn't care about who he was hurting as long as he felt satisfaction. That is truly evil.
2. Mr. Ewell tried to stab her
3. The meeting between Boo and Scout is very peculiar. The situation in which they met was a dangerous one. But Scout finally gets to meet him as she's always wanted.
Ch. 30
1. Atticus is ready to go to court and let Jem go through a trial. This shows Atticus's great moral values and what he's trying to teach his kids.
2. Heck is trying to protect Boo. He knows Boo doesn't like attention even if it's good attention and he knows Boo is a good man contrary to popular opinion.
3. Heck removed the switchblade which Mr. Ewell used to try and hurt the children.
4. Yes, he did do the right thing. He was trying to cover for Boo, who did nothing wrong by helping the kids and stabbing Bob Ewell.
5. "Well, it’d be sort of like shootin‘ a mockingbird, wouldn’t it?”
Ch.31
1. Scout sees that everything Boo did for Jem and Scout was because he cared about them. He gave them gifts, he kept them warm in the cold, and defended them when they were attacked. She sees him as an actual person.
2. The Mruna tribe is a tribe in Africa where everyone in the tribe is family to each other. Scout's neighborhood is a lot like this. Boo cares for the children as his own in his own way. Miss Maudie loves the children too. Everyone in the neighborhood supports each other in times of need, like the fire at Miss Maudie's. They're like one big family.
3. The first line is that Jem broke his arm. That is what just happened right now. He broke his arm when Mr. Ewell attacked him. I think this is an effective technique because it allows the reader to make connections.
4. The topic is about a person who was made out to be a bad guy. And people chased him and when they finally met him, they realized he was a nice person. The person is like Boo Radley. The children constantly wanted to meet him, but they thought he was scary at first. When Scout finally met him, he was a real nice person who cared about her.
