Di dunia muggle, Salamander adalah amfibi, bukan kadal dan tidak memiliki afinitas untuk api. Jumlah maksimum jam Salamander bisa bertahan hidup dari api dan jumlah kaki yang paling banyak digunakan Salamander adalah alfabet runikal untuk mewakili angka enam.
Waktu itu Fred dan George Weasley pernah bereksperimen dengan memberi makan kembang api ke Salamander, yang menyebabkannya meroket di sekitar ruangan, memancarkan bintang Tangerine.
